Virtual Private Network (VPN) uses a public telecommunication infrastructure (i.e. the Internet) to allow remote offices and individual users to gain secure access to the organization’s network. VPNs allow users to connect from anywhere and work virtually as if they were in the office. In addition, connecting branch offices to headquarters do not require expensive leased lines. Most firewalls today have the ability to configure VPNs.
